Doubt is not erased in today’s Gospel: it is transformed. Thomas stands where many believers stand: between testimony and experience, between hope and hesitation. “Unless I see…” he says, and the risen Christ responds not with rebuke but with presence. The mystery is striking: Jesus does not shame Thomas; he enters his conditions. Wounds become the place of recognition. Faith is born not from denial of questions but from encounter within them. St Thomas teaches that belief is not the absence of struggle, but the willingness to remain near Christ even in uncertainty. When he finally sees, his confession is total: “My Lord and my God.” The first reading describes the Church as a building with Christ as the cornerstone. Doubt, when surrendered, becomes part of that structure: not outside it. It is not about perfect certainty. It is about honest seeking that refuses to leave Christ. “Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” (John 20:29)
