The proclamation of Jesus as “the Christ, the Son of the living God” marks the climax of faith shown by Peter the Apostle. Faith is not static; it must grow and deepen, never remaining stagnant. In our lives, faith should mature until we too can proclaim: ‘Jesus came into the world out of love for me. He redeemed me through his precious blood, and as a member of God’s family I am a temple of the Holy Spirit’. When we declare these truths, they release spiritual power in our lives. Peter’s miraculous release from prison shows God’s power at work, enabling him to continue his mission. As we journey in faith, we too experience many moments of grace in daily life: often dismissed as coincidence or luck. Yet God’s hand is present in all things. St. Paul expresses a similar conviction in the second reading: “I have fought the good fight…I have kept the faith.” With humble confidence he looks forward to the crown of righteousness promised to all who long for the Lord’s coming.
