God speaks with urgency to call his people back to faith and wholehearted trust in him. Through the prophet Amos, God reminds Israel that they were chosen and therefore bear a greater responsibility to remain faithful. Yet despite repeated warnings and hardships meant to awaken their hearts, the people failed to return to the Lord. Amos therefore delivers a sobering message: “Prepare to meet your God.” It is a call to conversion: a reminder that God desires his people to recognize his voice and respond with renewed faith. In the Gospel, Jesus calms the storm by rebuking the winds and the sea. The Almighty God is ever present with us. The Lord who speaks through the prophets is the same Lord who commands the winds and the sea. When life’s storms arise, we are invited not to panic but to trust in Jesus, whose presence brings peace even in the midst of turmoil. Faith grows when we learn to rely on his power and heed his call.
PRAYER: Abba Father, I trust in you; my soul trusts in your word. Amen.
