Jesus’ compassionate heart was moved with pity when he saw the crowds helpless and harassed. He preached the good news of the Kingdom and healed every disease and sickness. His heart is moved with pity when we are struggling in our sin, addictions, diseases, and corrupt ways. We are powerless to come out of the pit that we dug for ourselves. The Lord Jesus came searching for us and his love saved us and healed us. Forgiven and reconciled with God and filled with his Holy Spirit, we are called to share that same compassion with our brothers and sisters who have lost their way. Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” The time is running out and none of us can procrastinate. I read in a reflection written by Jill Briscoe that, ‘Once we have had a personal encounter with the Christ of Galilee, ministry is not then a maybe it is a must’. For we have freely received and we are called to give freely too.
