Today’s readings reveal the power of trusting God in the face of fear and uncertainty. In the first reading, King Hezekiah is confronted by overwhelming threats, yet instead of relying on his own strength, he turns to God in prayer. He lays everything before the Lord, trusting that God sees, hears, and will act. His confidence is not in military power, but in God’s faithfulness: and God brings deliverance. This deep reliance invites us to reflect on our response to life’s challenges. When faced with pressure, do we panic, or do we pray? When we are in the Holy Spirit and in prayer, we are never left behind. God speaks in every opportunity. We are to trust, and follow his voice. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks of discernment and the narrow path. The path to life is narrow and demanding. It calls for attentiveness to God’s voice and courage to walk differently from the world. When we listen, and follow, even uncertain paths become places of grace, guided by the One who leads us to life.
