Stop judging, that you may not be judged
  • 2 Kings 17:5-8, 13-15, 18
  • Psalm 60:3-5,12-13
  • Matthew 7:1-5

Today’s readings invite us to reflect on the consequences of turning away from God. In the first reading, Israel falls not by sudden disaster, but by a gradual drifting: ignoring God’s warnings, rejecting his prophets, and choosing paths shaped by pride and disobedience. Spiritual collapse often begins quietly, when we stop listening, stop trusting, and begin to rely solely on our understanding. God’s ways are higher than worldly logic. When he directs, our role is not to question his wisdom, but to trust. This trust requires humility: a willingness to surrender our limited perspective and walk in obedience, even when we do not fully understand. In the Gospel, Jesus challenges our tendency to judge others while remaining blind to our faults. True discipleship begins not with criticism, but with self-examination and mercy. When we align ourselves with God’s ways, we grow in compassion rather than condemnation. Let us trust, and respond faithfully, allowing God’s grace to transform us from within.

PRAYER: Help us with your right hand, O Lord, and answer us. Amen.
