All that glitters is not gold
  • Zechariah 9:9-10
  • Psalm 145:1-2,8-11,13-14
  • Romans 8:9, 11-13
  • Matthew 11:25-30

A CNN news feed once claimed, “This megachurch has cracked the code for capturing the hearts of young Americans.” It spoke of impressive shows, trendy worship music, charismatic preachers, and emotionally charged experiences. There are many churches and communities, each claiming to reveal the truest path to God. Amid competing doctrines, miracle stories, and pressure to be “faithful enough,” many believers are left spiritually exhausted. Today’s readings offer rest to the weary soul. They remind us of the simplicity and humility of Jesus. We are assured that the Spirit of God lives within us and strengthens us, and that mercy and grace come through Christ alone. As a mother in crisis, desperately seeking God’s intervention, I too have struggled beneath the weight of trying to be “good enough” for miracles and blessings. Yet Jesus calls to us through the confusion, reminding us that he is the way to the Father. His path is not built on impossible burdens, but on love.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help me be still and know you are God. Amen.
