Today’s readings invite us to examine our faithfulness to God and our trust in Jesus’ power to heal. In the first reading, Hosea warns against idolatry: anything that takes God’s place in our hearts. Wealth, influence, and even relationships can become idols when valued above God. His words challenge us to remove distractions and remain steadfast in faith. In the Gospel, Jesus restores speech to a man oppressed by a demon, revealing both his authority and compassion for those who suffer. This miracle calls us to show compassion to others in need. While the crowd marvels at
the healing, the Pharisees respond with doubt and reject Jesus’ divine mission. Yet their disbelief does not hinder him; he continues teaching, healing, and offering hope. Seeing the great needs around him, Jesus calls for more labourers to share in his mission. Today, we too are invited to answer that call by serving others with faith, compassion, and trust in God’s healing presence.
