Be simple and Humble
  • Baruch 4:5-12,27-29
  • Psalm 69:33-35, 36-37
  • Luke 10:17-24

St Francis was the son of a rich cloth merchandiser. He was a rich wasteful flamboyant young man who experienced the touch of God, inspiring his love for creation. It led him to give up everything to live a life of purity, humility and poverty heeding the voice of God. He continues to impact the church with his example. “Let us love God and adore him with a pure heart and a pure mind…Although people lose everything they leave behind in this world, they, nevertheless, carry with them the rewards of charity and the alms they have given for which they will receive a reward and fitting repayment from the Lord” (St Francis of Assisi). Let us examine ourselves. Many search for love, but often in wrong places. It is a relationship with God that will lead to fulfillment. In this performance-oriented, fast-moving world, let us take a step back and look at where we are. Let us reorient ourselves and seek contentment in God alone.

PRAYER: Abba Father, let your word guide me. Amen.
