Mary Magdalene arrives at the tomb while it is still dark. She comes carrying grief. She leaves carrying resurrection. The beauty of today’s Gospel lies in one detail: Jesus calls her by name. Everything changes in that moment. Tears become recognition. Loss becomes mission. Silence becomes proclamation. Mary Magdalene becomes the Apostle to the Apostles because she first becomes a witness of love. St Gregory the Great reflected: “She sought him whom she had not found, and while seeking, she wept.” Those tears became part of her encounter. Many believers think faith requires emotional certainty. Mary teaches otherwise. Sometimes the deepest encounters with Christ emerge through longing, confusion, and persistence. The risen Lord still calls people by name. Not as crowds. Not as numbers. Not as failures. By name. Let us listen carefully within prayer. The voice that spoke outside the empty tomb still speaks within our hearts.
