“Come to me, all you who labour and are burdened.” Few Gospel invitations are as tender as this one. The world often measures people by productivity, achievement, or success. Christ speaks instead to the weary. He does not first demand strength. He offers rest. Today the Church also celebrates Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a reminder of the Blessed Mother’s guidance amid life’s burdens. The Carmelite tradition teaches silence, contemplation, and trust in God’s presence even in dryness. The prophet Isaiah speaks of souls longing for God through the night. Many believers know that experience: praying without clarity, waiting without answers, carrying hidden struggles. Yet Jesus does not promise immediate solutions. He promises himself. As St Teresa of Avila said: “Let nothing disturb you. God alone suffices.” Let us place every burden before Christ. The strongest soul is not the one carrying everything alone, but the one learning where to rest.
PRAYER: Abba Father, I come to you as I am, may I find rest in your presence. Amen.
