Not every victory arrives with noise. The Gospel presents Christ as the Servant foretold by Isaiah: gentle, quiet, patient. He does not crush the bruised reed. He does not extinguish the smoldering wick. The world often admires strength that dominates. Jesus reveals strength that heals. Many people carry hidden bruises: disappointments, regrets, fears, griefs. Yet the Lord approaches wounded hearts with tenderness. He sees weakness without contempt. Micah exposes the violence of selfish ambition, while Christ shows the power of self-giving love. One destroys. The other restores. Perhaps the most comforting saying today is this: “He will not break.” God is not searching for perfect people. He is patiently shaping imperfect ones. If your faith feels weak, if prayer feels small, if hope seems fragile, remember the image of the smoldering wick. Christ does not discard what struggles. He protects it until it burns brightly again.
