God sustains those who place their trust in him and invites them into the deeper path”of holiness. In the first reading, the prophet Elijah boldly proclaims a drought to King Ahab, a sign of God’s judgment upon Israel’s unfaithfulness. Yet even in this time of scarcity, God cares for his faithful servant. God provides for those who trust in his word, even in the most unexpected ways. In the Gospel, Jesus proclaims the Beatitudes at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount. He calls blessed those whom the world often overlooks: the poor in spirit, the meek, the merciful, and those who hunger for righteousness. True blessedness does not come from power or wealth but from a heart that depends entirely on God. Let us trust in God’s providence and embrace the values of his kingdom. Like Elijah, we are called to rely on God’s care. And like the disciples listening to Jesus, we are invited to live the Beatitudes, discovering that true joy is found in humility, and faithfulness to God.
