The desire for success, recognition, and security is deeply rooted in human life. Yet today’s readings remind us that when pride begins to dominate, people lose sight of their dependence on God. Modern society often measures worth through wealth, achievements, or status. It becomes easy to believe that success is entirely self-made. However, the more self-sufficient we become, the more difficult it can be to remain humble, compassionate, and spiritually open. Pride can appear in subtle ways: refusing correction, looking down on others, seeking constant praise, or placing complete trust in material stability. Attachment to wealth and comfort can quietly harden the heart. We grow spiritually when we learn gratitude, generosity, and dependence on God. Small acts of kindness help loosen the grip of selfishness. Jesus assures us that sacrifices made for the sake of love and faith are never wasted. What the world considers loss, God can transform into eternal gain.
PRAYER: Abba Father, may I be humble. Amen.
