Today’s readings highlight the sacredness of marriage. Throughout Scripture, the relationship between God and humanity is often portrayed through the image of a husband and wife. The union between a man and a woman is not merely a social contract, but a sacred covenant and Sacrament. In his covenants with humanity, God has always remained faithful: restoring, guiding, and leading his people on the right path even when they go astray. In the same way, marriage vows are meant to be protected and honored faithfully. From the beginning, God ordained marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman. Yet today, divorce is on the rise. Many have drifted away from God’s plan for marriage, neglecting the holiness and sacredness of this vocation. God calls all people to live holy and righteous lives. While some are called to the vocation of marriage, others are called to consecrated life. Let us strive to lead lives that are pleasing to him.
PRAYER: Abba Father, open my eyes to understand your will and to live according to your plan and purpose. Amen.
