The prophet Jeremiah watches a potter at work. Each time the clay collapses, the potter begins again. That simple image becomes a profound lesson about God. Human beings often define themselves by failures, mistakes, or unfinished stories. God sees possibilities still unfolding. The potter does not abandon the clay because it resists shape. He continues working on it. The Gospel reading speaks about gathering fish of every kind before final sorting. Once again the Lord Jesus emphasizes patience before judgment. God’s relationship with humanity is marked by remarkable perseverance. We are still being formed. The story is not finished. The areas of weakness, confusion, or struggle may be places where the divine Potter continues his work. We need to trust his hands. We need to trust his timing. We need to trust the process of grace. Because, often the masterpiece is rarely visible while it is still being shaped.
PRAYER: Open our hearts, O Lord, to listen to the words of your Son. Amen.
