Rooted in faith
  • Habakkuk 1:12-2:4
  • Psalm 9:8-13
  • Matthew 17:14-20

Jesus speaks about the importance of faith. He explains its power by saying that even mountains can be moved through faith. Faith is the currency of the Kingdom. Through Baptism, we have been initiated into a new life of faith. Jesus teaches that even faith as small as a mustard seed, can draw miracles from heaven. Therefore, we must continue our journey of faith without shrinking back in fear or doubt. All the promises of God in his Word are “yes” and “amen” for us. However, we can receive these promises only through faith; otherwise, they remain like an uncashed cheque. In the first reading, the Prophet Habakkuk sees his prophecy being fulfilled as the Babylonians rise to punish Judea. The prophet places this problem before the Lord, and God responds with hope: he will mercifully protect the righteous remnant. Our God is loving, compassionate, and faithful to his promises. Therefore, let us hold firmly to his Word and wait with trust.

PRAYER: Abba Father, increase my faith, so that I can claim your promises. Amen.
