Today is a celebration of God’s promises being fulfilled in the Blessed Mother, who trusted him completely. In the first reading, the woman clothed with the sun reflects Mary’s glory, not through her own power, but through God’s protection and grace. In the Gospel, Mary’s visit to Elizabeth and her Magnificat reveal her deep humility and faith. She recognizes that God lifts up the lowly and remains faithful to his promises. Her simple yet wholehearted “yes” opened the way for salvation. The Assumption celebrates the fulfillment of that faithful obedience, showing that a life lived in humility and surrender to God is never forgotten but honored by him. The second reading reminds us that Christ’s resurrection is the first victory over death. Mary’s Assumption flows from this victory, for because Christ conquered death, she shares fully in his triumph in a unique way. Mary’s Assumption is a sign of hope for us: trust in God leads not to loss, but to the fullness of eternal life with him.
