In the first reading, we see Jacob’s final instructions and death, followed by his sons’ fear of Joseph’s potential vengeance. Despite their earlier reconciliation, guilt lingers in the brothers’ hearts. Joseph’s response is remarkable: he reassures them, saying, “Am I in the place of God?” and reminds them that God transformed their evil actions for good. His faith in God’s sovereignty shows the importance of forgiveness and trusting in divine purposes, even amidst human failings. In the Gospel reading, Jesus speaks to his disciples about the cost of discipleship. He reminds them that following him entails misunderstanding and persecution, just as he faced. Yet Jesus encourages them not to fear, emphasizing God’s intimate care. Let us trust in God’s providence and be bold in proclaiming the truth. Let us follow Joseph’s example of grace and Christ’s teaching to trust God in all circumstances. Whether forgiving others or facing challenges, we are called to have unwavering faith.
PRAYER: Abba Father, strengthen our faith and guide us in your ways. Amen.
