Are you envious because God is generous?
  • Ezekiel 34:1-11
  • Psalm 23:1-6
  • Matthew 20:1-16

In today’s Gospel, Jesus challenges our sense of fairness and replaces it with divine generosity. Those who worked all day and those who came at the last hour received the same wage: not because of merit, but because of the landowner’s goodness. This reminds us that God’s love is not earned; it is given freely. We may sometimes compare our journey with others, feeling that we deserve more for our efforts. Yet God invites us to trust in his mercy rather than measure his blessings. Let us choose gratitude over comparison. Let us focus on what God is doing in our lives rather than measuring ourselves against others. The words, “the last will be first, and the first will be last,” call us to humility. In God’s kingdom, what matters is not how long we serve, but how open we are to his grace. Let us rejoice not only in what we receive, but also in the goodness of God, who gives abundantly. Let us serve out of love and faithfulness. It is never too late to respond to God’s call.

PRAYER: Abba Father, help me to serve with love. Amen.
