Today’s readings encourage patience and trust in God’s timing. St Paul cautions against judging prematurely, reminding us that only God fully knows the intentions of the human heart. Much of life remains hidden from our understanding, and many of God’s works unfold quietly over time. In the Gospel, Jesus uses the images of a wedding feast, new wine, and new wineskins to reveal that God’s saving work cannot be confined to old expectations. The arrival of Christ inaugurates something new, something that requires openness and readiness to receive his grace. Modern life often conditions us to expect immediate results. We become impatient with ourselves, with others, and even with God. Yet spiritual growth rarely occurs according to our preferred timetable. The Lord works gradually, forming hearts through daily acts of prayer, and perseverance. God sees the whole picture while we see only a small part. His plans unfold with perfect timing.
