Today’s readings invite us to grow in spiritual discipline and to serve others with sincerity of heart. In the first reading, St. Paul compares the spiritual life to a race. This image reminds us that faith demands perseverance. Just as a runner trains daily to grow stronger and improve, we too need consistent spiritual practices to deepen our relationship with God. Are we truly making time for prayer, attending Holy Mass, and reaching out to those in need? St. Paul’s words encourage us to keep our eyes fixed on the ultimate goal: eternal life with God. The more we practice discipline in our faith, the closer we draw to him and the more prepared we become to meet him. The Gospel reminds us how easily we notice the faults of others while overlooking our own. Jesus does not forbid correction; rather, he calls us to do so with humility and awareness of our own weaknesses. When we first address our own shortcomings, we would be less judgmental.
