We were created to worship God
  • 1 Corinthians 7:25-31
  • Psalm 45:11-12,14-17
  • Luke 6:20-26

The first reading reminds us that fulfilling our responsibilities at work and at home is important. However, if these duties leave little time to serve God’s Kingdom and deepen our relationship with him, we have missed what matters most. Time passes quickly, and every opportunity should be used to strengthen our spiritual life. The Gospel teaches that our true security, value, and protection come from our identity as children of God and from the relationship we share with him. People often live in three ways. The first, place their trust in the world because they do not recognize God as their source of security. The second, give God limited time while pursuing worldly success, wealth, and power. Though they seek happiness, lasting joy eludes them. The third, are those who have discovered the secrets of God’s Kingdom. They experience heaven even now, living in the peace, joy, and freedom that come from belonging completely to God.

PRAYER: Abba Father, never let me take my eyes away from you. Amen.
