Today’s Gospel reading presents the genealogy of Jesus. It shows the special role of our blessed Mother and her unique place in the plan of salvation. She was set apart and predestined to be the mother of God. As a mother, she would have experienced all forms of emotional, social and physical turbulences on her journey of life. Nevertheless, she faced all that with patience and grace, without doubting or losing hope in God. As we celebrate her nativity may we have the same grace, and humility. As we take each day as it comes, let us, like her rejoice in the Almighty, sing praises to magnify the Lord, be joyous, blessed and submissive, imitating her virtues. She is the shining example we have and is the perfect role model for us. Let us seek her intercession and imitate her exemplary life, as we follow her son Jesus Christ our Lord, so that we could grow in real discipleship. What she said at Cana, she would say to us too: “Do whatever Jesus tells you to do.”
PRAYER: Abba Father, give us the grace to cultivate virtues and follow the path of holiness by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
