If I do not have love, I am nothing
  • 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13
  • Psalm 33:2-5,12,22
  • Luke 7:31-35

Few passages in Scripture are as beloved as today’s reading from St Paul. The Apostle describes love not as an emotion but as a way of life. Patience, kindness, humility, and perseverance form the portrait of a heart transformed by grace. Saints Cornelius and Cyprian provide beautiful examples of these virtues. During a time of persecution and division, they remained faithful to Christ and to his Church. Their witness reminds us that genuine love often requires sacrifice and courage. In the Gospel, Jesus laments the inconsistency of those who reject both John the Baptist and himself. Their hearts remain closed regardless of what God offers. Wisdom, however, is recognized by its fruits. The readings challenge us to evaluate the measure of our discipleship. Success, knowledge, and accomplishment all have their place, but without love they lose their deepest meaning. Faith and hope are precious gifts, but love is the greatest.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may we love as you love. Amen.
