Build your foundation on God
  • Ecclesiastes 11:9-12:8
  • Psalm 90:3-6, 12-14, 17
  • Luke 9:43-45

The first reading highlights the different stages of human life and the importance of making wise choices. We will not remain young forever; our bodies grow old, our strength weakens, and we become more vulnerable to illness. Yet one thing remains constant: our spirit. Therefore, we must nourish it daily with the Word of God, staying rooted in him and building a strong spiritual foundation. The first reading urges us to remember our Creator in our youth, and to live with joy, avoiding anxiety and evil while choosing what is good. At the end of life, we will be accountable for how we lived and the choices we made. A good life is one filled with the Spirit, who guides us on the right path. God is merciful and always ready to welcome his children when they return. Each time we return to him, we are filled with his love and grace. In the Gospel, the disciples struggle to understand God’s plan. In our lives too, we are called to trust him, even when we do not see the way forward.

PRAYER: Abba Father, I pray for the grace to be rooted in you and to build my life upon your word. Amen.
