Bless the Lord, all you angels
  • Job 38:1, 12-21; 40:3-5
  • Psalm 139:1-3, 7-10, 13-14
  • Matthew 18:1-5, 10

The Church teaches us that God has entrusted each person to a guardian angel. These pure spirits shepherd, guide and guard our souls from harm and destruction, and accompany us, although we are often unaware of their angelic presence. In today’s Gospel, Jesus reaffirms this angelic protection over His children. It was a shocking revelation to the disciples when Jesus revealed that the unaccepted, rejected, neglected, unrecognised and vulnerable would inherit the Kingdom of God rather than those who consider themselves spiritual, superior, trustworthy or valuable. Like David in Psalm 139, who involved God in every detail of his life, and Job, who surrendered through his struggles and received abundant blessings, our goal, too, should be to submit ourselves totally to the majesty and glory of God. When we place our lives completely in His hands, we discover that true greatness lies not in power or recognition, but in humility, trust and obedience.

PRAYER: Abba Father, my only desire is to know you more and more. Amen.
