Today’s first reading portrays the salvation of God’s people as a joyful banquet. The Gospel uses the parable of the Wedding Feast to reveal God’s invitation to the salvation of humanity. When many of the invited guests refuse to accept the invitation, the invitation is extended to everyone, including the Gentiles. Yet Jesus reminds us that simply accepting the invitation is not enough; it must bring about a transformation in our lives. Are we wearing the wedding garment? Mere words and outward appearances are not enough. The wedding garment represents a life transformed by faith and expressed through love and good deeds. How are we using the talents God has given us? Are we using them to fulfil our selfish desires, or for the glory of God? Does the Word dwell within us and inspire us to acts of mercy, prayer and sacrifice? As Revelation 19:7–8 reminds us, the wedding garment is associated with the righteous deeds of God’s people. May our lives truly reflect the faith we profess.
PRAYER: Abba Father, may we be transformed to carry out righteous deeds. Amen.
