We call ourselves Christians, but we are often ashamed to speak about Jesus. We often say that we are faithful, but refuse to love our neighbour. St. Paul reminds us today that God’s Spirit came upon the disciples because of their faith, not because they followed every rule. Perfect behaviour does not earn God’s love; rather, our relationship with Him is built on faith and trust. Remember, God’s love is a gift, not a reward for good behaviour. When life gets hard, we often question God’s faithfulness. We pray seeking something in return, and when the outcome is not what we hoped for, how many of us turn away and seek worldly satisfaction through alcoholism, adultery or false gods? If you are going through rough waters right now, remember God’s promise: “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you” (Jer 29:11). Though life may become tough and unbearable, remember that God will always walk beside you.
PRAYER: Abba Father, may we always abide in your presence. Amen.
