Today’s readings remind me that I am a citizen of heaven, called to live in this world without allowing worldly things to become the centre of my life. St. Paul warns against becoming so absorbed in earthly concerns that we lose sight of our eternal destiny. The Gospel then presents the unusual example of the dishonest steward, whom his master praises for his prudence. Jesus is not praising his dishonesty, but challenging us to be equally wise and purposeful in preparing for what truly matters. Everything I possess – my time, talents, relationships, responsibilities and resources – is entrusted to me by God. One day, I too will have to give an account of how I have used these gifts. The question is not simply how much I have achieved, but whether I have used what God has given me for His glory and the good of others. May I remain faithful in my stewardship, wise in my choices, and firmly focused on my true homeland: heaven.
PRAYER: Abba Father, help me to remain faithful to you. Amen.
