Jesus is talking to us in the context of warning us against the deceit of false prophets and false Christs. We are called to be vigilant and not be deceived. The Book of Wisdom underpins this message by reminding us to seek the truths of God, which show us the pathway to follow. We find the song of a spiritual heart yearning for the strength and comfort of God as it prays and ponders through the watches of the night. At Baptism, we receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit to sustain us. In Confirmation, through the anointing with oil and the laying on of hands, we receive a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit to live as active witnesses of Christ. As a mum who has waited for Jesus to heal my son for almost 20 years, waiting has been the hardest thing I have endured, despite the constantly reassuring hand of God in my life. Jesus invites us to keep growing in our relationship with Him by constantly seeking the presence and wisdom of the Holy Spirit.
