Be Soaked in God’s Love
  • Acts 1:12-14
  • Psalm 87:1-3,5-7
  • John 19:25-34

We are called to be followers of Jesus. The Catechism of the Catholic Church no. 460 says that we are called to be another Christ. We know that Jesus was tempted in every way that we are tempted. The difference is that Jesus over-came temptations while we often succumb to them. Today’s first reading beautifully explains the reason why we face hardships and the results of hardships. We are encouraged through our hardships. We are purified, and our stubborn and selfish qualities are removed through these hardships. The Gospel reading brings wisdom to us. We need to be aware of the vices that rise from our inner being and from the environment around us. We should be gentle to ourselves as well as to our neighbours; we will then be fulfilled and victorious. Divine wisdom teaches us to love. When love is our base we would not be affected or downcast as we would receive strength and courage from God. Rooted in his love, let us live as his beloved children.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may I be soaked in your love and let the beatitudes be my path to holiness. Amen.
