God knows us by Name
  • 1 Timothy 4:12-16
  • Psalm 111:7-10
  • Luke 7:36-50

Today’s Gospel reading emphasises that it is the merciful love of God that makes us fall in love with him. “We love, because he loved us first” (1 Jn 4:19). In the Gospel reading we see a woman who experienced the mercy and forgiveness of Jesus which in turn made her adore and worship him with her whole being and with everything she possessed. The mercy and love of God is for all peoples. Unfortunately, the Pharisee in today’s Gospel reading failed to pay attention to Jesus who was already in his house, as he was busy being judgemental about others. Jesus laid down his life for us on the cross. If only we believe and accept his forgiveness and redemption, we will experience his divine presence and love in our lives. Then we can live, knowing that our past is forgiven and our future is blessed and taken care of by the creator of the universe who knows us by name. No doubt, our hearts will be filled with gratitude and love for the Lord.

PRAYER: Abba Father, open my heart to your loving presence, so that I may love you more than anything else. Amen.
