Final countdown – Many are invited, but few are chosen
  • Romans 12:5-16
  • Psalm 131:1-3
  • Luke 14:15-24

Jesus humbled himself to be born as a man out of love for us. His sacrifice was in obedience to the plan of the Father, so that we could be adopted as God’s children and become co-heirs with him, reconciled with the Father. The Great Commission (Mk 16:15-18) to draw humankind to the Father has been shared with us, through the grace of our baptism, as an extension of his living body in completing the Father’s plan. He invites us to be nourished by his word and in the Eucharist, so that we may be strengthened for this mission. Are we using our gifts, or shying away from them? St. Charles Borromeo participated in this mission by feeding the hungry during a time of famine and plague in Milan. Often, it is hardest to witness this love within our families and prayer groups, let alone in the workplace or with outsiders. Will the Lord find us worthy to dine with him when he returns, or will our excuses leave us among the unchosen? May we be found worthy of his invitation.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may I choose to use my gis, to fulfill your commission, in loving humility. Amen.
