Perseverance
  • Wisdom 18:14–16; 19:6–9
  • Psalm 105:2-3,36-37,42-43
  • Luke 18:1–8

In the first reading, we hear of God’s mighty intervention in history. The silent night was pierced by his all-powerful Word, descending from heaven to bring deliverance. The same Lord who parted the Red Sea for his people continues to act with power and mercy, transforming what seemed impossible into a path of salvation. His Word is living, effective, and always faithful. In the Gospel reading, Jesus tells the parable of the persistent widow to teach us the need for constant prayer and unwavering faith. The widow, though powerless in worldly terms, gains justice because of her persistence. How much more will God, who is just and merciful, listen to the cries of his chosen ones? Jesus concludes with a piercing question: “When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” This challenges us to live with perseverance, trusting God even in silence, and never losing heart. Faith, perseverance, and trust are the pathways to encounter him.

PRAYER: Abba Father, may we persevere in trust and faith. Amen.
